You may remember that a while ago I was commissioned by Rachel, a friend of mine, to make her a necklace.
Well, she was very pleased with the result and I now have a new commission to work on for her.
Rachel has collected a bunch of souvenir tea towels for me to make into a special 80th birthday present for her mum.
I am going to turn the tea towels into two patchwork cushions.
They will feature place names that are significant in her mum’s life.
For example, Rachel told me about how her mum has sung in many cathedrals around the country, Ely being one of them.
She also loves Scarborough, especially the North Parade.
As Rachel talked about her mum’s life and loves, her taste for the slightly quirky, her achievements, the love just shone through in Rachel’s face.
It’s always a big thing to be trusted with a commission. But I feel both honoured and humbled to be asked to make a physical representation of Rachel’s love for her mum.
It is a special gift indeed. ♥
What a great idea!
What a wonderful, thoughtful gift! I’ll look forward to seeing your finished project!
That’s such a sweet idea. What a perfect collection she has too.
