a garden of stitches

modflowers: stitchy garden postcardI’ve been loving the garden recently.

Of course, the weather has helped enormously.

That and the inspiration of visiting Mapperley Park Open Gardens the other weekend.

I have been ogling plants, watching fruitĀ ripening, getting my hands dirty and just generally revelling in being outdoors at midsummer.

Then yesterday, I happened uponĀ a mission from Oh Comely! magazine which set me off on an afternoon’s snipping and stitching (well, it looked like rain)…

The invitation was to send them a postcard on the subject of gardens to celebrate the July issue, which isĀ to be “full of sunshine and the outdoors…”

Well, how could I resist an invitation like that?

Eventually,Ā when I’m happy that it’s complete, I will turn it into a stitchy postcard and send it to Oh Comely!

But at the moment it is still growing…

Just like my real garden, I can’t seem to stop tending it.Ā ā™„

  1. Dear modflowers
Your creation is quite the business and your stitching is perfecto. Funnily enough I have been thinking of making some sort of 3D paper engineering ‘thing’ such as the Victorians used to make….not sure why!
Anyway I love the flashes of orange – all very uplifting
    Have a lovely sunny day
    Best wishes
    Jenny

    • Thank you! I’ve finished it now (apart from writing the actual postcard bit on the back) so will post more photos of it soon!
