The project I’m working on at the moment is a bit secret.
For now, at least.
It called for me to get out a bit of kit that I use only rarely.
Not because it’s something I don’t like using; quite the opposite in fact.
No, I love my studio scissors.
They were a present, from my man.
He doesn’t always get it right. In fact, he’s bought me some absolute stinkers over the quarter century we’ve been together.
My worst ever reaction was provoked by a juicer. I was hoping for something a little more… romantic. Glamorous, even, for my birthday. I was young – and romantic – back then.
It was the year that Les Battersby bought his wife Janice a deep fat fryer for her birthday on Coronation Street. When I unwrapped my juicer, all I could think of was that I was the healthy equivalent of Janice Battersby. Who, shall we say, has never exactly epitomised glamour.
It didn’t go down well. Not well at all.
I have lower expectations these days.
But he did get it right with those sexy scissors. ♥
*jealous* !
*swoon* they’s so pretty! I know what you mean about guys and gifts, James likes me to choose so he knows what to get but I like it when he makes the effort to pick. So far, he has done rather well! Maybe I will need to drop some more hint for these though…
I actually have to confess… I have two pairs of Merchant & Mills scissors! These Studio Scissors are for pattern cutting (i.e. paper) and I also have a pair of dressmaking scissors, which I can’t use at the moment as they need sharpening.
Ooo, they look fancy! So did you keep the juicer? 🙂
It is in the cupboard in the kitchen. Barely ever used. (The elephant in the room?!)
Oh lovely … they’re very special. I once got a set of hairbrushes … not my mans finest moment 😉 … Bee xx
