Sometimes I need a bit of a kick up the bum, metaphorically speaking.
Yesterday a friend of mine was due to pay a visit to choose some fabrics for a commission. She wanted something blue or teal.
“No problem” I said. “Pop round and have a look in my stash” I said.
And then I took a look around and thought “Eek!”
We are not the tidiest of families. Neither am I the most enthusiastic of domestic goddesses.
I love pictures of glossy interiors and I do my share of washing up and mopping up. But sometimes when I am in the throes of creating I get a bit carried away and the housework slides a bit and the fabric starts to take over.
And when I started looking for teal fabrics I couldn’t find any. Because they were buried under a hundred other things.
So I started from scratch and put my house, and my fabric stash cupboard, in order.
(Not to mention whirling around with the hoover to Pulp’s His ‘n’ Hers, scrubbing the loo, wiping fingermarks off grubby paintwork and plumping a few cushions here and there).
I’m knackered.
But opening my cupboard is such a pleasure.
I can actually find things again.
Yay!
My friend couldn’t make it in the end.
Ah well, it’s a job well done anyway.
Just the spare bedroom to tackle now…. 🙁
Tidy, tidy … I’m always messy when I’m creating too 🙂 ….. Love those blues x
That would really make me smile every time I opened it. Such a pity your friend didn’t get to witness such a display.
She’s hopefully coming next week instead. So I’ll probably have to do another load of tidying then!
Oh a joyful cupboard indeed!!
Oh you made me laugh … nothing like a friend visiting to make you whizz round and tidy up … I do exactly the same … but creative mess is definitely allowed … you simply can’t make gorgeous things and do housework at the same time and I know what should take priority … enjoy your gorgeous cupboard of loveliness … Bee xx
Glad I’m not the only one! Funny isn’t it, how much we care what others think of us?!
What amazes me is how fast I can mess it up. One minute it’s organized and the next, it’s impossible to find anything. Fabric fairies may be playing games. ha ha
I think they live in everyone’s fabric cupboards. And there’s a different breed that live in my wardrobe, too!
your stash cupboard reminds me of mum’s linen cupboard when I was small – gorgeous colurs & designs *is envious*
Ooh what a lovely collection! I’m so jealous!
It’s been built up over a long time Hannah!
Haha I think mine will look as big as yours eventually!
Ahhhh! Heaven in a cupboard.
OMG you’ve got quite the fabric stash there – can’t take my eyes off it – GORGEOUS!! And there’s nothing quite like the virtuous feeling of having tidied up – something I need to do lots of!!
