Wrapping gifts is something that, for most of us, can be a bit of an afterthought.
You buy a present for someone and even if you’ve spent ages choosing it, if you’re like me you’ll probably be rummaging in a cupboard for a bit of bedraggled wrapping paper before your lovingly-chosen gift can be handed over.
Let’s face it, it’s all too easy to be a bit rubbish at wrapping presents.
But gift-wrapping seems to be having a resurgence. You only have to look on Pinterest to see a profusion of gift-topping, ribbon-curling, paper-printing, rosette-twirling activity going on quietly behind the scenes.
I actually love wrapping gifts.
Apart, that is, from one particular Christmas, when I left wrapping ALL my presents until Christmas Eve night, thus requiring me to miss all the fun and the excitement on the children’s faces, instead spending the whole evening sequestered in the attic alone with a roll of sellotape.
I’m just not very organised.
I do, however, make an effort to ensure that the orders I send out look like the sort of presents I would like to receive through the post…
The other day I was blown away to discover the wonderful range of vintage giftwrap on sale in Etsy store, TillaHomestead.
Just look at these fantastic designs…
There are lots more designs in Tilla’s shop.
It’s amazing to me that these pieces of ephemera which, let’s face it, are actually designed to be torn up, have lasted so long.
Perhaps it’s because, even back then, people were a bit rubbish when it came to wrapping presents. ♥
Love the one with the kids party – wonderful!
Oh my goodness! What a lovely post! Thanks so much for featuring my shop. I love my pretty pieces of paper. Mid century gift wrap design is so addictive!
You are so right! And thank you for letting me feature them! You have an amazing collection!
Great papers! I love the kids one and the sunshine. 🙂 They are just so ‘happy’!
