always and still

modflowers: illustration by Brian WildsmithI have always loved children’s books.

I loved them as a child, when my dad used to sometimes take me to the library with him to choose my own.

I love them as a mum, having shared them with lad right through from baby board books to the current nightly read.

And I still love them. Particularly if they’re filled with amazing illustrations, like these.

They are the sort of beautiful pictures that I have always loved.

And that I love still. ♥

    • It’s from the 1966 edition of A Child’s Garden of Verses, by Robert Louis Stevenson; published by Oxford UP, illustrations by Brian Wildsmith.

  1. I feel the same about these books! I have the Tortoise and the Hare, illustrated by Brian Wildsmith. The rabbit, and I believe the squirrel, are both from that book. I love his vibrant and colorful work! Great post!
