Hello and welcome back to my guest blog posts…in case you haven’t joined us before, I’m Rachel and I blog over at My Rainbow Vintage Home… but this week I am looking after this lovely blog as modflowers is visiting family in Australia. She certainly picked a good time to leave the UK, it is freezing cold here!
I am sharing a rainbow of vintage fabric this week, so after yesterday’s sunny yellow, let’s move on to green – and this one is called Summer Storm…
This fabric is a departure from all the florals in my collection…though still inspired by nature, it is far more bold and graphic in style. It reminds me of super hero comics and the pop art paintings of Roy Lichtenstein.
I love the brightness of the green – such an unexpected colour for a cloud!
I have seen this in one other colourway, with lilac clouds and pale blue lightning with red outlines. I can’t remember why I didn’t buy it…apart from the reason that I can’t own every bit of fabric that I like…can I?!

I once saw some of the lilac version of this fabric in my local charity shop – but didn’t buy it! I think it was because it was a) expensive and b) out of my floral comfort zone!
Mind you, if it had been this green version I’d have snapped it up – love that colour!
Ooh I’ve never seen Heals fabric in a charity shop! I know what you mean about the floral comfort zone – though I do love geometric patterns too. I do think the green colourway of this pattern is much more vibrant and exciting than the lilac. I hope you’re having fun over there! x
rachel- great guest blogging work! you and modflowers are certainly sympatico when it comes to vintage fabric. i buy a lot of vintage fabric in op shops (here in sydney, australia) as no one sews anymore and people throw out fabric collections. i imagine modflowers is doing the same as we speak!
Hi and thank you! I would so love to be able to come over and rummage through your op shops – I see so much amazing stuff on Australian blogs! I hope she’s finding all kinds of vintage goodness while on her travels. x
