beauty school dropout

modflowers: dolly pink hairA couple of weeks ago, over on Facebook, I lamented missing out on a lovely miniature chair (the very one pictured below) from online vintage emporium Winter’s Moon.

I thought it would make the perfect doll’s seat. But someone snapped it up whilst I was actually browsing it, but before I could get my card out.

A lovely lady, whom I had neither met nor spoken with before, commented that she had one just like it in her loft – and moreover, she would be happy to send it to me!

We agreed to a swap (her mini chair for one of my mini moggies)… and the deal was done.

So I sent off moggy, and yesterday, as you can see below, I became the proud owner of the perfect miniature chair for dolly display purposes!

modflowers: vintage doll's chairGreat timing, as the doll I just completed is the perfect fit to sit on it…

modflowers: handmade doll on vintage chairPolly Pink’s hair is made from some amazingly-coloured wool I thrifted just last weekend.

I can’t imagine what anyone might have wanted to knit from it, but as a hair colour it seemed perfect.

Unfortunately her tresses have come out a bit orange in my photos, but in real life the colour is a tad less tangerine and smidge more of a bright, salmony-peachy-verging-on-the-edge-of-fluorescent-y, coral pink.

Although when I looked her up, Frenchie’s hair was actually nowhere near that colour…

But, like a beauty school dropout, I messed it up. Having cut my strands too short and started sewing them all wrong, I cut my losses, changed my mind and instead of a beehive ended up with a bob. Not unlike my own experiences at the hairdressers.

Feeling I’d let myself down a bit, I made a simple shift dress trimmed with a few sequins…

I just wish I could make myself a full-sized one of these…

modflowers: dolly coatI found the perfect tiny vintage buttons in my tin…

And more seasonal. The perfect spring outfit, in fact.

Another bit of wardrobe (not to mention weather!) wish-fulfilment. Which is nice…

But I’m still hankering for a pink beehive. ♥

  1. I think that Miss Polly is my favourite dolly thus far – I adore her hair (and Frenchie!) and her glorious spring coat. Could you please add me to the list of those wishing an adult size of this lovely coat?!

  2. Love her! And her sweet little outfit – now if I could only find tights like those! I am really enjoying your dolls – makes me want to make a few again! I have a patchwork quilt to finish first though……but I love the way they have such individual characters! Keep them coming!
