A friend of a friend had a garage sale yesterday.
For those of you from sunnier climes unfamiliar with the concept, a garage sale is the British equivalent of a yard sale, only it takes place partially under cover due to the vagaries of the British summer.
The holder of the garage sale is a vintage seller, so I thought there might be cast-offs worth a trek up the hill to cast an eye over.
My friend from Sunshine Vintage was also selling some of her stuff, and had lured me there with the promise of fabric.
But it turned out she hadn’t brought any, due to the anticipated downpour. I can’t pretend I wasn’t disappointed.
Slightly downcast, I thought “I’ll have a chat and a quick pokey about and be off home”.
But then, I found treasure…
This lovely battered old toffee tin, with its pleasingly worn patina, will serve a dual purpose, holding treasures on my stall and bits and bobs around the house.
And I managed to fill it with a selection of vintage haberdashery delights…
After making my purchases and saying my goodbyes, I got three quarters of the way home when the heavens opened.
I got soaked.
But my box of delights is more than adequate consolation for a bit of weather.
Especially as there’s now a further opportunity for fabric fondling to look forward to. ♥
What a beautiful tin! I do wonder what “Extra Devon” means, and how it would differ from being just “Devon”…
I imagine it’s got more cream in it – I have no basis for this assumption though!
Oh I’m a total sucker for an old tin. And overflowing with your haberdashery, this one is just dreamy. And makes me hungry for a toffee 🙂
