I’ve a bit of a thing for clocks.
Perhaps it comes from my maternal grandfather, who was a watch- and clock-maker and mender.
The first clock I ever really fell in love with was this one:
Alas, that particular designer classic was, and remains, somewhat beyond my means.
But on the bright side, Society6, the website that transforms designers and artists’ work into prints, phone cases and the like, has started doing clocks.
And theirs are somewhat more affordable.
My favourites are these designs based on vintage sheets, by illustrator Kate Gabrielle of Scathingly Brilliant.
You can even choose to mix or match the colour of the frame and hands.
Perfect for a spot of restrained horological indulgence. ♥
These are great and inspiring, I have always wanted to make a clock. hmmm : )
Oh those clocks look fabulous with Kate’s prints – I have some of her digital papers and love them. They’d look great on your wall!
Im obsessed with clocks too and my grandpa was a clock maker. We still have his ‘master piece’ as they were called. Every part of the movement made by hand. I keep meaning to make a clock based on one of our bears but still havent got round to it! Love the clocks in this post too.
What a coincidence! My grandfather’s masterpiece was a grandmother clock that stood in their house, about which there is a sorry tale too long to go into here. Maybe I’ll blog about it some time.
