Yesterday afternoon was earmarked for sewing.
Lad and his dad were off to a football match. I had the house to myself, stuff to get on with, and a whole afternoon to get on with it in.
But I had reckoned without the contrary nature of inspiration, which is a fickle mistress at the best of times.
When you want her to show up, she deserts you. And when you aren’t expecting her, she drops in unannounced, like a ton of bricks on a greenhouse.
And so it was yesterday.
After a swift rummage in the darker recesses of my bedroom for the necessary materials, off I popped to get on with it. Just like that.
With never a further thought for sewing.
I must say, I’m rather pleased with the result.
I collected the flower pictures years ago, snipped from Sunday supplements and a couple of old Royal Horticultural Society diaries.
I’d always had in mind lining the inside of a cupboard or alcove with them.
And I’d toyed many times with the idea of transforming my vintage wardrobe, which I found in the house when we moved in.
I’d thought maybe of using vinyl stickers or paint, though nothing had yet grabbed me hard enough to make me actually do anything to it, beyond a spot of light sanding.
Until yesterday.
It still needs a good going over with some mod podge to protect it.
Oh, and I think it deserves a new knob.
All in good time.
But it’s well on it’s way to fabulousness…
So thank you to the muse of inspiration for dropping by.
I might still just be high on spray-mount fumes, but right now I’m feeling some serious cupboard love. ♥
P.S. I misplaced my camera until yesterday evening, hence the late post – and the slightly dodgy iphone photos!
I see your fabulous shoes have managed to insinuate themselves into the photo too!
I’d had them out as I was prancing about in front of the mirror in them the other night! Still haven’t worn them out of the house yet – the weather and occasion just haven’t been right!
Looks great. Love it when creative juices take us on a different pathway. Let me know if you still want some of that gift wrap….it’s finding new homes super fast!
Ooh, yes – sorry! I had forgotten! Will message you now!
well done – do I remember you’re the person who’d lost their mojo not so long ago? Seems you’ve found it!
Wonderful, just wonderful.
I love it when inspiration strikes! What a fab idea – and so perfect for this time of year – I’m desperately in need of some flowers!
