You are probably sick of seeing this quilt by now.
But I just had to mention that finally, at long last, well overdue… it is finished.
I eventually went for simple squared quilting along the centre of the white sashing, and a folded-over edge rather than binding (for which I didn’t have enough spotty fabric anyway).
I have to admit that finishing it is a weight off my shoulders.
Or at least, it will be.
When I pluck up the courage to apologise for the delay and ask the person that commissioned it, all those months ago, whether she actually still wants it. ♥
well done!
If she doesn’t want it, I bet there are hundreds of other people who will! It’s a great feeling finishing a big project, isn’t it? You feel all light and accomplished, and free to choose what you’re going to work on next. Well done, it’s lovely.
It looks great.. well done for finishing it!
I love the contrasting backing and the fact it continues over onto the front… lovely! Cass x
It looks beautiful. Be proud. x
Wow that looks amazing!!! Xxx
Love it! Love the red and white polka dots – the perfect fabric to finish it with! 🙂
It’s for a boy so no florals!
Well first time I’ve see it so certainly not sick of it! It’s beautiful! Is it made from vintage tea towels? Brilliant – I covet it x
Yes, it is made from vintage tea towels! It’s a commission for a boy so a departure from my usual florals was required, but I didn’t want to use any of those cutesy boy fabrics with robots or cars on. I thought this was a bit less likely to be grown out of in a hurry.
Fabulousness indeed!
The dots make this quilt so so fresh and the vintage prints are so much fun. Beautiful.
Ooh this is so lovely!
YAY well done! Such a beautiful job!
Definitely not sick of it – I’ve been eagerly following the progress of this beauty and I think it’s stunning. So much so I bought a stack of vintage tea towels to make one for my husband featuring places special to us. Thank you for sharing it. X
Ah, I’m flattered to have been your inspiration!
The great thing about this sort of project is that it can be made utterly personal, depending on your choice of patchwork style, the colours of the tea towels, the sashing (or not), quilting, etc. Good luck with your project!
I’ll buy it if it is no longer required. I love the places, it feeds my England nostalgia. Enjoy the sense of completion…sigh, ahhh, right now what’s next?
It looks fantastic! Time to crack open a bottle of wine I think 🙂 I’m reading your posts backwards – looks like you’re on a roll with finishing things 🙂
Beautiful (and well worth all that hard work!)
I have never thought (or seen) vintage tea towels cut into squares to make a quilt before and I really like it x
