So, I apologise for the radio silence.
I have been absolutely fine. But too busy completing the cast of characters you see above to blog.
I have got up in the mornings, done what needs to be done to get lad off to school and to deal with all those jobs around the house, and then I have settled down to doll making, every day.
It has been blissful. My making mojo has never felt quite so… perky.
There have been fabric combinations to choose (so much fun!) and outfits to decide upon. There has been the production-line stuff to do – lots and lots of arms and legs to cut out and sew and trim and poke stuffing into.
There has been hair to create. Trims to pick out.
And the scariest bit of all, always left until the very last…
Faces to be painted and embroidered. Knowing that one slip of a paintbrush could ruin the whole doll.
Hopefully that hasn’t happened.
But despite my worries, once I got over my fear of mucking them up, I loved doing the faces, too.
Especially the lads…
It’s a good feeling, to face and get over a fear.
Even if it’s just a little one, about painting little faces.
And it’s a great feeling to get a job done. ♥
Thank you for doing such a marvellous job; the lads and lasses are beautiful and I’m so pleased you’ve enjoyed creating them – it shows! x
I’m glad that you’re happy with them – I would hate not to do those amazing fabrics justice!
Just…. fabulous! They all have their own personalities, and you’ve dressed them accordingly. I have to tell you, my favourite is the 5th from the left, I have outfit envy!
Is that the girl with the check skirt and floral shawl?
I’m finding it hard to pick a favourite… I think I like the girl in red in the middle (in the photo of all of them) best, although I’m less keen on her hair – her fringe is a bit short. My favourite boy is second from left. I love how his floral-lined waistcoat turned out, and his two-tone pink hair.
That’s the one. Your favourite boy is lovely too, the hankie in his pocket is fabulous!
It was meant to be a flower! Oops! 🙂
Such a brilliant muddle of fun, you have inspired me to get on with my Christmas doll making.xx
Oh they’re just brilliant Sharon – such an amazing collection. You must be feeling so proud! And maybe a little sad to let them all go? So happy your making mojo has well and truly returned. Perhaps you could send a little over this way?!!
Lovely! Truly lovely!
These dolls remind me of the toys that my grandmother made for my sisters and I. My mother and I made them for the next generation. ours were all cats with long tails.
