Preparations for Saturday’s stall at The Secret Garden Craft Fair are in full swing at modflowers HQ (i.e. my living room) this week.
As previously mentioned, I have been somewhat hampered in my activities by the misbehaviour of my glue. My uncooperative epoxy has been drying to a brittleness that has had my pendant bails snapping off. Not good.
It has made me somewhat reluctant to trust it. Once bitten, as they say, or in this case twice bitten, thrice shy.
But needs must. So I decided to risk it for a biscuit and glued my latest batch of buttons to make more hair grips.
If they don’t set I’ll re-glue them with my latest new glue, as recommended by Etsy seller Valerie of Cabin, who makes adorable things that also involve glueing wood to metal. Check out her shop and you’ll see what I mean.
I also made Iris, a new tweetie cushion. A greedy little bird, she ate every bit of my remaining stuffing…
No wonder she looks a bit like she has indigestion.
Finally, just for good measure, I made all of the remaining strings for my still-to-be-reglued-yet-again pendants.
Today is my last day of preparation before the fair, so I will be ironing cushion covers like a demon, sorting out my stall box, setting up a mock stall layout, printing labels and flyers (technology willing!) and packing up my goodies.
Oh, and praying that the patron saint of epoxy is feeling benign and has made the glue on my grips, well, grip. ♥
great images of your lovely hairclips…reminds me of your blog logo.
It will be a stunning stall. Please post a photo of it next week.
Sending you great weather vibes.
Thanks – I will! Alas, the hairgrips won’t be on it though, as the glue has once again let me down. I will scrape it all off and redo them with the new stuff, but there won’t be time before my stall 🙁
Hope it all goes well – it looks fabulous! Am impressed at your patience with the glue – I think I’d have thrown my toys out the pram by now!
Oh, I have, I have…! But I’m not wasting all my hard work!
