I am sorry to say I buy a lot less books than I used to.
But then, I did used to work in a bookshop and get staff discount, which meant that not buying books just wasn’t an option.
Nowadays of course I tend to look up things on t’interweb rather than buy books to show me how to do them.
But I still do like a good reference book – you can’t beat them for inspiration, detailed instructions and just a spot of eye candy.
Fitting the bill rather nicely on all three of those counts is Zakka Style.
This neat little book features twenty-four stitched projects from various makers, compiled by Rashida Coleman-Hale.
And I have a brand new copy to give away to one of my lucky blog readers – yay!
The Japanese term zakka has been loosely translated to mean “miscellaneous goods”, “many things”, or “sundries”. But it has grown to mean a style that embodies a kind of simple charm and uniqueness – something handmade that is useful yet pleasing.
The book’s projects fall just the right side of cute, are eminently do-able, and include full instructions on how to make useful bits and bobs such as a sewing kit, messenger bag and water bottle holder.
All in all a most worthy addition to anyone’s crafty bookshelf (I have a copy on mine.)
All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is to leave a comment on this post (click on the little speech bubble symbol next to the post’s title if you can’t see a box to type your comment in.)
Since this is a special bloggy giveaway, comments on Facebook, Twitter or anywhere else on t’interweb don’t count this time I’m afraid.
Fingers crossed that no technical issues emerge to sabotage things.
The giveaway closes on Sunday 17th May at midnight UK British Summer Time.
Good luck! ♥
Looks like a gorgeous book, love reading your blog.
Oh please miss, me, me! *Arm waving in air, desperate to be picked*
I used to be an external reader for a publishing company, which meant getting advance copies of all sorts of stuff, good and bad. Quite a lot of bad, but some wonderful nuggets of gold in there. I miss the freebies… I’d love this book, because I tend to ignore little gorgeous things in favour of big, time-consuming, energy-draining gorgeous things. In hope, then….
there is no such thing as too many craft books !
That does look lovely, and surprisingly (given my love for craft and seeing books) I haven’t seen it before. I would love a chance to win! Thanks, Sarah.

I’d never heard of the word ‘zakka’ and I shall add it to my vocabulary right now! (I should get one of those lovely little vocab notebooks you used to get in O- Level French!) Am I rambling? I do apologise……
