Gosh, it is hot here at the moment.
I, being of pale, Northern parentage, am not good in the summer heat. In fact, I have actually fainted from heatstroke on more than one occasion in the past.
To prevent the worst effects, I am taking it easy at the moment. I know my limits.
So I would not have ventured into town this weekend if my partner hadn’t suggested it. Oh, and if I hadn’t been in dire need of new pants.
I had not noticed the appalling state of my knicker drawer until yesterday, when rummaging for something cool to wear that wasn’t baggy, saggy, lacking elastic and visible through my frock. Marks and Spencer beckoned as a matter of urgency.
Once I had negotiated the complexities of shorts versus midis and high rise versus low rise, it didn’t take long to fulfil my errand.
So I had time for a little thrifty browsing on the sly, whilst the boys were refuelling in the coffee shop. (For some reason they had declined to accompany me to the lingerie department.)
My shifty thrifting was rewarded with some extra niceness to take home – fabric from Bird in Borrowed Feathers sale, napery, a tea towel, and a book about pulled thread work.
My thrifty purchases were distinctly cheaper than my multipack knickers, I can tell you.
And before you ask, no – I’m not going to show you a picture of my pants. ♥
love that birdie tea-towel – of course!
It’s a People’s Friend calendar tea towel from 1988 Sarah!
Lovely bit of embroidery. Shame about the pants….
Which ones, the new or the old?! 🙂
I miss M&S underwear. I could have had a little nostalgia trip… But I’m glad to be spared the old ones!
