I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my makes.
Not that I always get everything perfect. Quite the contrary, in fact.
I’m rarely completely satisfied with anything I make.
I make mistakes. But mostly it’s that thing of being able to see something clearly in your mind’s eye, and then not quite being able to reproduce it in reality.
But I do like to at least try to get as close as possible to my original vision.
I wanted my finished iphone cases to have no raw edges visible, to be functional, and to look nice.
Including their insides.
It’s been really fun this weekend picking out fabrics to make them, now that I’ve sorted out the sizing and the method.
Each one takes two main fabrics; a sturdy outer one, and a lighter weight one for the lining. I could have just gone with something cheap and plain to line them with. After all, it’s not really going to be on show that much.
But to me, they wouldn’t have looked right. Not like I pictured them.
So instead, I went the whole hog…
Picking out pretty combinations and contrasts of colours and patterns is one of sewing – and life’s – greatest pleasures.
And as good an excuse as any for a lovely rummage through the vintage fabric stash.
I think the extra effort was worth it. I hope you’ll agree.
After all, as The Mighty Boosh point out, it’s what’s inside that counts. ♥

I love the linings! These little details are the difference between nice things and really lovely things and your mice definitely fall on the really lovely side!
Loving the fabric combos – I think all the little details really matter. And I just LOVE picking out fabrics to use together – although I usually find that despite my reasonable size stash, I never have the right complementary fabric!!
