You may remember that I decided not to thrill you all with my holiday snaps.
Instead, I sprinkled some vintage fabrics in and around my first back-from-holiday blog post...
I also mentioned in passing that I was about to embark upon a new project with them.
Well, that project is underway in earnest…
The fabrics, I am proud to say, all hail from the personal archive of Sarah Campbell.
As a former designer for Liberty, Sarah is participating in the forthcoming Liberty in Fashion exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London.
And I am making some dolls to go into the museum shop as a tie-in to the exhibition.
It’s SO exciting!
There will be both boy and girl dolls, and they will all be dressed in Liberty outfits.
Which means I get to play around with lots of lovely combinations of these amazing prints…
It’s a bit of a dream project for me actually. I mean, what could be better?
I’m really struggling to think of anything at this particular moment in time.
Liberty in Fashion celebrates the 140th anniversary of the company. It will explore Liberty’s impact on British fashion from the 19th century to the present.
The exhibition runs from 9th October 2015 – 28th February 2016 and tickets cost £8.80 for adults, £6.60 concessions and £5.50 for students. Children under 12 get in for free.
I’m really hoping to make it down to London myself to see it, having been a Liberty fan since the 1980s, when I went to London to visit my university boyfriend.
I spent many happy hours wandering around Liberty’s fabric department whilst the boyfriend in question was busy wheeling corpses down to the mortuary in one of London’s larger hospitals (he was a medical student and that was his summer job.)
I will try not to bore you all too much with tales of the Liberty lads and lasses over the next few weeks.
As I’ll be working on them for a little while, please bear with me if I overdo the Liberty-love every now and again.
But I might just need to record again for posterity how lucky I am, whilst pinching myself every so often. ♥

I don’t believe it’s possible to overdo the Liberty-love, personally. I had a bit of an “oooh” moment when I realised that I’d had a blouse in one of the fabrics you’re showing, as a little girl. I suppose that makes me vintage, too….
I realised that I still have some Liberty fabric in my stash that I bought during that summer I spent in London with my university boyfriend – so I’m most definitely vintage too!
I’m so excited for you! You really deserve to get some extreme positive feedback on your work as it is wonderful! Lots of people will be able to see your talents shine through with that fabric to create with! Awesome!
