When I made my first new owl I did a silly thing.
I cut out the back with the fabric the wrong side up. So it didn’t fit the front. It was facing the wrong way.
It wasn’t the first time I’d done this. I do it when I’m cutting out tweeties too. It’s a bit of a habit actually. A lapse in concentration that I’ve learned not to stress about, because there is an instant solution…
I cut another back to fit the piece I’m working on.
And then, I make a new front to fit the back piece I cut the wrong way round! So that the piece I cut wrong doesn’t go to waste.
I never waste fabric.
Which means that I end up with two mirror-image cushions.
Like these two love birds. ♥
How sweet x
Oh no, I love them both! I like that you make some that face one way, and some the other. It works… 🙂
I wish I could say I rarely made cutting mistakes when it came to templates. I was working on something recently for which I had to re-cut half of my pieces because I noticed the front of the template said ‘cut half right side up, half wrong.’ And even then I accidentally cut one set wrong when I turned my fabric upside-down to make the template fit better. 😀 lol
Their so cute! I love them! I think your mistake turned out to be a good thing. 🙂
Oh I LOVE your new owl design! Great fabric combos, as always, and I love that little pocket x
