I apologise for the lack of a blog post yesterday, but a very happy thing happened which meant I had something other than blogging to attend to.
I am extremely happy to report that my creative drought has apparently… moistened.
You may remember I mentioned that I haven’t really done a lot of sewing or making ever since I stopped before Christmas. I intended to have a few weeks off for family fun, but at some point during that time my making mojo made off and moved out.
My creative muse is seemingly a delicate and sickly thing, at times easily overpowered by my inner critic. My inventiveness evaporated. My motivation melted.
I couldn’t for the life of me think of anything I really wanted to make. I kept working on commissions and resurrecting half-finished projects to keep me doing something, whilst the drought of ideas dragged on.
But this weekend, my muse returned.
Perhaps it’s the nurturing effect of spring sunshine; perhaps it’s being accepted for my favourite craft fair of the summer.
Or maybe its just the ebb and flow of life… ebbing and flowing. I don’t really know.
Marmalade the Ginger Cat is the result of my weekend endeavours. He’s not quite finished, but he is just the first of a few ideas I have a-brewing.
When done, he will have a cheesy cat grin. A bit like mine after this weekend.
Welcome back inspiration. It’s very nice to make your acquaintance again.
I ain’t half missed you. ♥
I rather like him grinless and enigmatic!
Meeeooowww!! Glad it’s back!
Very cute!
I like his gingerness.
Smashing! Glad you are in the presence of The Muse again. Mine is headfirst in a snowbank somewhere….
Oh I absolutely LOVE him! Such a gorgeous design and of course gorgeous fabric combo – very springy 🙂 And so glad to hear that your mojo is back – I hadn’t noticed it was gone, mind.
