It was lad’s birthday yesterday. We had a lovely day.
There was a sleepover for friends, pingpong in the park, homemade pizza, lots of treats, sushi, cuddles.
Amid all the hubbub and fun I spent the day glancing periodically at this tall, gangly eleven year old lad, my lad, our lad, and marvelling.
It doesn’t seem five minutes since he was the small bundle of fun in the picture above. The child I thought I’d never have.
In a quiet moment, I spotted this improv pixel quilt-in-the-making by Melissa Averinos.
Which, I think you’ll agree, is another marvel. ♥
That looks a lot like my studio floor, except my fabric off cuts etc are the result of Wizard of Oz costumes!!!
Beautiful and happy birthday!
Thank you Tammy! Feels like a landmark one, just poised on the verge of being all grown up, but still a boy… secondary school beckons in September, puberty not long after methinks…
It’s a big moment for mum – realising their child is on the cusp of the teenage years. Having almost finished the most turbulent years with my daughter…it is just wonderful to see them come out the other end; a thoughtful and wonderful young adult.
I’ve heard it’s easier with boys …
Happy birthday Lad.
I can’t say I’m exactly looking forward to the teenage years… but lad has so far been such a joy that I’m sure we’ll cope!
