So I wasn’t supposed to be charity shopping.
I’d allowed myself a treat at the weekend, stocking up on a few bits from Spinster’s Emporium’s craft jumble sale.
But when I saw that the “vintage and retro” department upstairs in the local charity shop was actually open for a change, I just couldn’t resist popping in.
And as it happened, it was so worth it.
Because there were a few little things of interest up there…
Those little triplets are just an inch high.
They have obviously had eventful lives, judging from their chipped paintwork and slightly dubious expressions.
This little lady is a tad taller at all of two inches.
She has kept herself pristine in her smart red frock and Sunday-best hat.
And there were more little treasures…
In the shop, these little miniatures were lined up on an equally mini settee, part of an unbelievably cute set of dolls house furniture which looked like it had been handmade from plywood and hardboard.
There were little beds, tiny upholstered armchairs, and even a miniature welsh dresser. They were too tiny for my dolls, or I would certainly have snapped them all up.
But I’m regretting I didn’t buy the settee, to perch my miniature menagerie on.
I might have to pop back again and part with another £1.50. ♥
They’re adorable… What do you think they were meant for? Ornaments, maybe? They seem very tiny for dolls you play with. I think you should go and get the sofa.
I thought they were Christmas ornaments at first – I do have some similar vintage ones – but only one of them has a string attached, there is no obvious place to attach a string to the others and apart from the two tiny angels they aren’t very Christmassy. So I’m really not sure!
tempted to ask you to get the furniture for my dolls house (made for me when I was 5)… mine’s got very rickety…
Some of the furniture is probably equally rickety Sarah! But I’ll be popping back later so if it’s still there (and if the vintage department is open – it isn’t very often!) I will take some snaps to show you. The ladies in the charity shop are very obliging.
thanks..
They are adorable. Just warms the heart looking at them 😉
Just had a huge kick of nostalgia seeing these – I had a teeny tiny mouse, about 1/2 inch tall, who lived in my jewellery box (with the wind up ballerina). He had suede ears and a suede tail. I wonder what happened to him?
It’s funny the stuff that lurks in your memory, isn’t it?!
