multi-coloured (sheet) swap shop

modflowers: vintage sheet fat quarter swap entrant!OK, it’s time to come clean. I was not one of the cool kids at school.

Back in the 1970s I never owned a Chopper bike, I wore distinctly unfashionable clothes, my mum cut my hair and I didn’t watch Tiswas.

In fact, I was so uncool that I actually preferred the dreadful Noel Edmonds with his flicks and his beard, on that staple of childhood BBC Saturday morning television, Swap Shop.

modflowers: Noel, the apple of my eye as a 10 year oldI know. It’s a heck of an admission, isn’t it?

As my sister recently reminded me, my most favourite bit of the show was when they cut to an outside broadcast of cheesie-grinned and gurgle-laughed Keith Chegwin.

There was Keith, bundled up in an anorak, gurning at the camera in some freezing, rain-sodden, godforsaken, dog-poo-riddled public park somewhere in the North of England, tasked with encouraging a crowd of kids into swapping jigsaws (no doubt incomplete) for Barbie dolls (wild-haired and past-their-prime) and suchlike.

modflowers: vintage sheet fabricSo anyway, I’ve always liked the idea of a swap. A good swap allows you to exchange something you don’t really want or need, for something you do want, for nothing. Well, that’s the theory anyway.

And with that in mind, I’ve signed up for Mary Emmens Vintage Sheet Fat Quarter Swap, which she is running over on flickr.

modflowers: vintage sheet swapIf you are a vintage sheet lover and have at least five fat quarters of nice vintage sheet fabrics you’d like to swap (you can send more than one of the same fabric), pop over to the flickr group page here for info on how to get involved.

It’s ok, you don’t have to be one of the cool kids to join in. ♥
