Ok, so this is what I want to do with my vintage napery collection.
Isn’t this just fab?
These wonderful creations made from genuine vintage linens are by Lu Flux, from her Gee’s Bend collection.
They are so perfect I think I might just die of envy right here on the spot.
I mean, why didn’t I think of doing that?
Now all I have to do is learn how to make garments well enough to trust myself to cut into my stash.
Don’t hold your breath! ♥
You could start with something easier, like adding a pocket to a white shirt, or adding an embroidered band to the outside of an existing cuff or collar? I agree that this is a truly lovely way to use all those pretty embroidered thingies in my linen cupboard. In fact, excuse me, I just have to go and see what I have…..
Yes, I was eyeing up the pocket on that shirt and wondering whether I have anything suitable to sew one to!
Gosh, thanks for the inspiration! This is all so beautiful (as is your blog). Love coming to here and seeing all the pretty colours! 😉
Thank you rillafree! x
Yep I have added the odd embroidered pocket cut from my stash and have plans to make clothing from the rest but need my spine to allow me to sit at the sewing machine first… Be brave and Enjoy while you can! Cx
I hope your back improves soon. Perhaps you could do some of the preparation, so that you’re all ready to go as soon as you feel up to it? x
wow oh wow oh wow! Amazing and wonderful – I really hope you do this as it is such a beautiful idea 🙂
I know! But I’m SO SCARED of cutting into those embroideries! And I’d need to make a toile first of whatever I was planning, just to make sure that don’t end up making some hideous non-fitting white elephant of a garment!
Gorgeous!!!
They’re beautiful. Sometimes I create faux-vintage embroidered pieces to use as patches or to sew into a patchwork with other fabrics.
