I thought it was about time for a friday fabric fix.
Although, I sometimes wonder whether I’m doing the right thing, posting pictures of the fabrics I manage to source, on here for all to see.
I worry that it seems like boasting.
I wonder if it makes me come across like an in-your-face, gloating, “LOOK WHAT I GOT!” attention-seeker.
The sort of person that, when I was a child, my mum made it quite clear she despised: the dreaded Show-Off.
I suppose all blogging is a sort of showing off. But I’m not trying to big myself up. Or to make anyone jealous. Honest guv!
I’m just SO flipping excited by some of my finds that I can’t keep them to myself.
Like this one…
Another design from genius Dutch fabric firm Dekoplus (who were their designers? Does anyone know? They deserve designer medals!) this stuff makes my eyes shine and my heart do a little dance.
The colours are perfectly autumnal – just like the shades of the trees on my journey out into the wilds of Welbeck last weekend.
The pattern is a little bit oriental (those pots!)
It is very 1960s, and, I think, absolutely AMAZING…
I’m afraid, at the risk of being judged, it just had to be shown off.
I hope you don’t mind.
I haven’t even taken possession of it yet. But it would be a crime and a sin to keep quiet about it and then tuck it away in a cupboard, for my eyes only.
Even though revealing it might just engender a little bit of jealousy. ♥
Interesting – I think the sharing/imparting element of a blog outweighs the showing-off one – I hope so anyway, speaking for myself!
I think so too Sarah! But my mum wouldn’t have approved!
It’s not showing off at all! This is why I love your blog – I like seeing all the lovely photo’s of fabric/things you’ve made/work by other designers – it’s the most delicious eye candy, so keep doing it. We are all nosy whatsits who love to have a look at what other people have 🙂
I’m glad you feel that way! That is how it is intended – as eye-candy, I mean, not as fodder for nosy whatsits! x
I don’t think you are showing off. You could write a book with your knowledge of vintage fabrics. So keeping a record of your finds on here is almost like a social history record. Would love to know more about the designs and designers if you ever find out.
I love seeing your fabrics, never thought of it as showing off at all! Keep sharing! I thought of you the other, saw a gorgeous 70s retro print pair of curtains in a charity shop. Was tempted to buy it, but wen I looked at the tag it was forty-nine pounds! one of those charity shops that has embraced the vintage thing I guess!
We have plenty of those around here! Thanks for thinking of me – and I’m glad you like seeing my fabric finds.
