So she’s done, the cuddly nun. Sewn and stuffed.
And I Just had to do a quick post to show you!
She’s the first plushie / pincushion made from my recent fortuitousĀ charity shop find. I’m somewhat discomfited by the thought of anyone sticking pins in her though. She’s not a voodoo nun, after all.
She’s only little, bless her (sorry!) – just five inches tall. But I think she’s turned out rather nicely, backed with a bit of the blue floral stuff bought on my recent antiques fair trip with Maria.
Apologies if you have fallen for the cuddly nun, as she is already spoken for.
But this little fellow isn’t – yet…
He’s got a bit of lovely vintage cotton on his reverse, a leafy-printedĀ fragment of Banbury,Ā a Heals design by Colleen Farr.
Tomorrow, lad is off to the Space Centre with a friend. So I’ll have a whole afternoon to sew a few more plushies.
I might even get Sapphire out to play with…
Although Bernette has been sewing like an absolute dream since she came home, so I might prolong the delayed gratification of getting acquainted with Sapphire for a little longer.
Perhaps until I’ve given myself a bit more time to read the manual.
And to convince myself that techno-fear is for sissies.Ā ā„
Nun – pincushion š GREAT!
When I got a new machine after 15 years of using the old one I was convinced I would be too scared to use it! ……upon delivery they asked if they could take the old one away as they get sent to third world countries for parts and repair where possible.Great idea and I had no excuse not to get stuck in!
She’s the cutest nun I’ve ever seen … and I’ve seen a few! I went to a convent grammar school and was taught by the next littlest nun, about 4′ 8″ and terrifying … she certainly wasn’t smiling like your little one … very fitting that you used fabric found while with a Maria too š … Bee xx
Tee hee – I hadn’t thought of that! š
What phenomenal fabrics! They were practically made for these cute little pincushions. Sticking pins in the nun may be a little too much for me, though. š
Absolutely. I think she would be much more suitable to adorn a shelf, blessing all those who gaze upon her.
Yay! Actually, I foresaw her standing on my shelf, guarding my fabric (perhaps my vintage sheets, in your honor) and watching me play. I’m just not sure I could stab her and hide her cuteness.
Oh, I forgot to say…I can’t tell you how many tech things I’ve put off and when I went to do them they were ridiculously quick and easy and/or immensely rewarding, and I kicked myself for not doing them sooner. But I haven’t learned any lessons from it…
