I blame my friend Louise, whose daughter wanted one for her new bedroom. She started it.
I made one for her and it proved rather popular.
But my original design was quite complicated to get right. It was the wings…
And it took quite a lot of time to make. And time is something I just don’t have quite enough of at the mo.
So I thought I’d have a go at simplifying the design, just to see if it would work, so that if it did, I would have time to make a couple of owls for my stall. Since they have proven so popular.
The wings have gone, but I have added ears. I could have left those off, or made them just part of the outline of the owl like before, but I wanted my owl to look perky, and I think a bit of perkiness usually lurks around the ear area, so I sewed some perky little ears.
And, truth to tell, without the ears my owl looked a bit egg-headed. Like a funny, lopsided humpty-dumpty. Which was not the desired effect at all.
I have also added a pocket. It can hold a hanky, for when you’re watching a sniffly film. Or maybe your spectacle case. Or the tv remote. Two items that tend to sneak off and hide in our house.
It’s totally up to you. You don’t have to put anything in the pocket if you don’t want to.
I just fancied one.♥
It’s ALWAYS good to have a pocket!
She’s gorgeous … I love the yellow and white fabric … she is just as lovely as your other one … Bee xx
Oh my gosh! Is she for sale? Could I buy her?
She will be for sale when finished – £20. I’ve just got to (excuse my bluntness) sew up her bottom and she’s done!

I love the pocket – perfect for owls to keep a little mouse in? 😉
Now that’s an idea…!
