So, yesterday afternoon’s project was the second of the two cushions for Rachel’s mum, this time featuring some of her favourite places.
It’s not quite finished yet, but I thought I’d post about it anyway. It’s been a bit tricky, to be honest.
The first cushion went together like a dream – both in the planning and the making.
With this one, I had lots of material to choose from, as Rachel provided a fantastic selection of tea towels. Editing them down to something cushion-sized was the first challenge.
I then went through lots of traumas cutting the patches, as the bits I wanted and needed to use were all different sizes. No nice easy chain piecing for me folks!
And I couldn’t quite work out in which order to sew all those bits together, either. Which led to liberal use of the unpicker.
But I got there in the end…
I think it looks a little like a page in an album of picture postcards.
Which of course, was definitely my intention all along. ♥
I can imagine the difficulty, but it turned out great. I love the little embroidery bits you added… 🙂
It looks great–and what a fine way to use those souvenir tea towels!
Its a great idea very cute!
SO pretty!
It looks great … I love the little hearts you’ve included … Bee xx
Looking good so far… 🙂
Thought I d let you know how much my mum loved the cushions. In fact every one thought they were fab. My mum was really touched by the effort of both myself and sharon. I was really touched and impressed by the effort and care sharon put into them. She invested so much time , creativity and emotion into making them perfect. Thank you so much. X
You’re more than welcome Rachel! I’m so glad they were a success! x
