I never used to class myself as a scarf-wearer.
At least, not the non-woollen “indoor” sort of scarf.
I remember my boss in one job a good fifteen years ago bought me a floral chiffon scarf for my birthday. My ungrateful younger self thought, “a SCARF? What does she take me for – someone middle-aged?”
My, how times have changed.
These days scarves are worn by young people, even men, without risk of sneering ridicule.
And I could be described as middle-aged.
I’m not sure which of the above is responsible, but nowadays I like scarves.
Especially when they’re as cheap and cheerful as these, which cost only a pound or two each.
I got most of the lovely stack of scarves pictured from the same vintage emporium whence came my Crimplene crush.
I’m happy to wear them, but in some ways it seems a shame. You can’t see those fabulous designs when they are folded up and wrapped around your neck.
So, I’m tempted to do something else with them instead.
With the largest nearly a metre square, they’re a bit big for cushions – even floor cushions.
Similarly, they could be framed, but I’d need a lot of wall space.
I love what Ouno Design do with theirs:
Unfortunately, that idea might mean I have to try and hunt down a few more… 😉
these are actually so cute it pains me!
Wow your scarves are so lovely!! Love the bedspread idea…keep your eyes open for a few more! x
hello. I’m loving your post about scarves. I too am a huge scarf fiend, not matter what the type of scarf from wide cotton to short woolly to square vintage silk. I have loads of them. however I always wonder whats the best way to wear square silk scarves. I have one on today, wrapped around my neck and worn long at the front. how do you wear yours???
I think they would look beautiful as a quilt, like you say then you can fully appreciate the beauty of the designs.
