Sometimes inspiration comes from fabrics.
And sometimes it comes from other sources.
I had put together a collection of fabrics in bright colours for some appliqué, but it just wasn’t coming together.
I keep a stash of all my selvedges. I like the patterns, symbols and words that appear on them. I had a root through my selvedges to see if anything presented itself as useful.
And found one I had snipped off this…
This fabric design is quite famous nowadays. It is called Flower Shop and was designed by Hans Jurgen Holzer.
And although I don’t have any of it left, lo and behold, inspiration took flight from it’s selvedge…
I just need to finish fixing up that vintage frame, and there we are.
There are days when I actually really like my hoarding tendencies. ♥
This post reminded me of the words written on the selvedge of Melody Miller Fabrics – ‘Leap and the net will appear’ – her mantra when she started up her business. So cool.
That is cool!
