I had such a good time in Sheffield last time I visited.
So when my friend Maria of Sunshine Vintage suggested a trip over for a weekend mooch around the vintage shops, I jumped at the chance.
We started off at Abbeydale Picture House for the flea – there was a queue to get in, but we didn’t mind.
Inside – and outside – the crumbling beauty of a building were all kinds of wonderful things…
After that, we headed to Sheffield Antiques Centre, where Maria has a little corner filled with her lovely vintage wares…
And after that there were the vintage and charity shops along Abbeydale Road, and the reclamation yard, and lunch in the sunshine, and ginger beers at the pub.
There were smiles, and chats, and bargains galore. So much, over the course of the day, that I could have brought home with me. More than I could possibly dream of.
This is what made the cut…
A lovely fabric handbag from the flea (for £2.50) which, when opened up later, revealed a surprise matching purse inside!
And a set of little pictorial trays from the charity shop (£1.99 for the set – destined for the loo wall)…
A lovely cotton shirtdress in the softest, most amazing 1960s cotton print fabric…
A pretty printed cotton tablecloth…
And the pièce de resistance of my Sheffield spoils…
An absolute design classic – Hans Jurgen Holzer’s “Flower Shop” fabric for Heals, made up into two near-perfect-condition curtains, complete with selvedges.
So those are my Sheffield spoils.
There’s nothing quite like a successful day’s vintage-hunting, is there? ♥
Wonderful finds, especially those curtains!
Yes, they are rather special!
Looks like you had a great time!
