Behind this tasteful frontage in Nottingham’s Lace Market lies something wonderful.
I had heard about Debbie Bryan’s studio and shop ages ago.
I had even wandered about, lacking the address, trying to find it a couple of times. But I failed.
Until last weekend that is, when, on our way to lunch in town, we passed right by the door. And I went “ohhhh!” and went inside for the first time.
I’m sorry I waited so long to find it. Because Debbie Bryan’s shop is a marvel.
That’s the lady responsible, above, behind the counter.
It is a beautiful, historic space, full of the best kind of handmade treasures, curated and displayed to their best advantage.
And what treasures there are within!
From historic lace made into jewellery that references the shop’s location in Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, to printed and embroidered cushions, scarves, garments and ceramics… The displays are as desirable as the objects for sale…
I asked about workshops (some incredible creative activities also take place in the studio) and got talking to Debbie, who generously provided me with a cup of tea whilst I took some photographs.
I had to send lad and his dad on their way whilst I indulged myself looking at all the pretty things…
If you’re not in Nottingham you can find Debbie’s website at debbiebryan.co.uk, or connect via Facebook and Twitter.
And if you are ever in Nottingham, you must stop by the shop at 18 St. Mary’s Gate, The Lace Market, Nottingham NG1 1PF.
It is a hidden gem, so don’t do what I did and walk straight past.
Luckily there are lots of nice eateries nearby in which to offload hungry boys, so you can be sure of a nice, uninterrupted treasure hunt. ♥
What a lovely place to spend a peaceful hour or two without the blokes in your life…
a real treasure, very tastefully done! x
