Yesterday was a day of small disappointments.
I love sewing class, but yesterday I didn’t seem to get much done.
I spent most of the class unpicking. In fact, I could quite fittingly have stood on the table and belted out “You gotta (un)pick a pocket or twoooo” at top volume, had I been so inclined.
My skirt pocket went on all wonky.
I didn’t have this problem with my last skirt! So why now? That pocket just didn’t want to stay in the right place whilst I sewed it down.
I thought of Ann in The Great British Sewing Bee – she always did everything properly.
So after unpicking I got my needle and thread out and just had time to hand-baste the damn thing on before I went home. I will have another go at it later.
Then I came home and read my emails.
I didn’t get selected for Wirksworth Festival. You may remember, I applied a while ago and got a bit stressed doing it.
Admittedly, I had a feeling at the time that I might not make the grade.
But it’s disappointing nonetheless.
But hey, there’s always another day.
Onward and upward. ♥
oh those butterfinger days are SO annoying – better luck today!
I know! I’m always tempted to bodge, but I’m determined to not to give in to temptation and to follow Ann’s shining example!
At least you can console yourself that your fabric is fabulous!
Isn’t it a pain that unpicking takes much longer than machine sewing – it’s cruel.
Don’t be so hard on yourself….remember Ann has been sewing for 40 years!! As creative people we always seem to focus on our bad days and forget how many good productive days we have. X
