Today is day nine in my series of stash stories. A fabric a day from my stash, with it’s story.
Number nine is another fabric with which I have had a rocky relationship.
We got off to a bad start.
The ebay description was wrong. It said the fabric was unused, when it had been hemmed and, as you can probably see from the photos, it has certainly seen a wash or two. But the seller and I sorted it out between us.
The fabric is slippery and a bit of a ‘mare to sew. It’s some kind of rayon-y, synthetic mix. Looks ok, but slides around under the sewing machine. Like grappling with an oiled-up wrestler, but less fun.
I made a cushion cover from it, which I was certain would sell. After all, it’s a lovely pattern.
But it didn’t sell.
It fitted a large cushion, which I lugged around from stall to stall for what seemed like ages, before finally dumping it in Lu Lou’s shop and hoping I never saw it again.
The cushion did sell from Lu Lou’s eventually. But not quickly.
I have not made anything from this fabric since, apart from the odd pendant.
And I don’t plan to any time soon.
Unless someone asks me very nicely. ♥
