This is the second of my stash stories. Something for the sunny summer days.
A fabric a day from my stash, with it’s story. Some more interesting than others, depending on the fabric!
Today’s fabric is a more recent acquisition than yesterday’s. Although you could say, every other fabric I own is a more recent acquisition than that one.
Today’s fabric came from Holland.
I have visited Amsterdam quite a few times. It is a wonderful place. I went for the weekend on my 40th birthday; it was the first time I had left lad (he was only 2) for any longer than one night.
There are some amazing vintage shops in Amsterdam. Like Laura Dols, which I think my partner wished I had never stumbled upon, as I could easily have spent all weekend (and all our money) in there…
Amsterdam’s markets are also legendary. The one on Waterlooplein is quite an experience!
Though when we went I was limited by travelling hand luggage only. I won’t make that mistake again!
I know how much beautiful vintage fabric there is out there, although I have rarely been lucky in finding it at a good price myself.
This particular stuff isn’t of especially good quality. I think it is rayon, not cotton. It has that certain floppiness about it.
Even so, the pattern makes it one of my favourites.
I haven’t been able to bring myself to cut into it yet. Apart from a tiny bit at the very edge.
But I will.
One day. ♥
This is beautiful fabric! I haven’t been to Amsterdam before…I didn’t realise they had such lovely vintage shops! A Dutch dash may be in order!
Gorgeous fabric! Can you believe I have never been to Amsterdam?! I must right that wrong and pay a visit to some of those vintage shops – I’ve been following Kit & Nancy on Instagram and she finds the best things there and in Rotterdam.
Love it!
It’s very similar to the motif of your logo. Love it! We’ve discussed traveling to England and the Netherlands. We would need a LOT of money… ;D lol
You’re right about the similarity with my logo – I hadn’t noticed that! 🙂
