I finally got around to completing my birdie pendants.
I have to admit, although I am not a good finisher of tasks, I am excellent at losing things.
In fact, I am a mistress of misplacement. A doyenne of disorder.
I misplaced the little silver-plated toggle clasps that I had bought to finish off my pendants. It made me shout a bit.
As did the fact that my camera has been misbehaving and refusing to focus properly. Apologies for the slightly out-of-focus pictures in this post as a result. Rest assured: it is not your eyes that have malfunctioned.
Having finished shouting about losing things, I proceeded to call my camera some bad names.
I made a nice cup of Earl Grey, listened to the Afternoon Drama on the radio, and felt better.
The clasps eventually turned up, having been hiding underneath a piece of paper. Duh!
I only have these three pendants, for now, as they were just an experiment. But I think there may be more in future.
I like the mix-and-match quality of the button centres with the vintage fabric – what to call them, cords? threads? hangers? None seems quite right…
I’ll settle for calling them strings I think.
Even though they’re much prettier than your average bits of string.
By the way, whilst we are on the subject of string, I gave a brand new ball of the ordinary stuff to lad for a school project (something about building a fairground ride).
This is what I got back:
🙂
Laces .. why not call them laces, instead of strings? Or ‘Birdie on a Wire’? Maybe not .. ! They look fab x
I love these pendants! They would hang nicely on silk ribbon which I think is fairly available on Etsy. The fabric ribbons are very pretty though and match the Modflowers style too! Can’t wait to see more.
