This weekend it seemed Doctor Who had it about right.

Time really is complicated. Not a nice straightforward bit of cause and effect. More like a big ball of “wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.”

Sometimes, time stretches out before you and seems to drag on and on. And at other times, like this weekend, it speeds up and up and rushes away from you at the speed of… well, of a very fast thing indeed.

I think it’s to do with the Easter holidays coming to an end. At the start, it seemed like we had ages.

We packed a lot in to a fortnight. Sunny days and birthday evenings in Cornwall. Climbing, bushcraft and outdoorsy fun at Edale. A trip to the Framework Knitters Museum, and another to the National Videogame Arcade.

But not a lot of making.

I find it difficult to concentrate or to be creative when lad is around.

Not because he is overly demanding I hasten to add, but just… because. My focus settles itself on him, rather than on the airy-fairy or the arty-farty.

This weekend, however, lad had a friend over. A creative friend.

We sat at the kitchen table together and, whilst they drew Manga characters and created comic strips on the computer, I at last got on with a bit of sewing.

And my new batch of doll-face brooches finally got completed.

As time tends to when fun is being had, this weekend sped up and slipped away at alarming speed.

Today, for the first time in a fortnight, I’ll be up early. And after lad departs for school, I will have a whole day for making, thinking and creating.

I wonder what the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff will make of that. ♥
