I completed my three latest Dobbit dolls yesterday.
They turned out three very different ladies, despite being made to the same general template. (Cue Lionel Ritchie singing “Three Times a Lady”)
This, of course, is mainly down to the faces. The same methods are employed for all three, but embroidering the faces is always where things go their own sweet way.
I think its a mood thing. With me, I mean. When I did the one in the middle I must have been feeling a bit… well, I’ll leave that for you to decide.
I also wavered over ears. I just couldn’t commit, so hedged my bets and set one’s ears down, one’s at half-mast, and left the other’s (on the left) free to blow in the wind – resulting in her looking just a tiny bit mad.
I then experimented with the fun fur fabric I found in the charity shop on Monday.
This is what resulted…
I don’t really know what this is. A bear? A cat?
I’m really not sure about it, in more ways than one.
He’s bigger than the Dobbits, because I thought I’d make life easy on myself for my first try at sewing fur.
I thought I’d try using some brown fabrics, because a) I never do; b) It seemed appropriate for a furry creature, and c) I knew I’d be less upset if I wasted brown stuff than if I’d used something more treasured.
Perhaps that’s where I went wrong.
Whatever, it was fun making him, but I’m not sure that Furball is really ready to roll. ♥
I think they’re all adorable, including fur all!
Furball! ( phone changed it)
My favourite dobbit is the centre one with the red dress if that’s any help! I like the full on ears ????
