I have mentioned before the trials of production-line making.
I have developed techniques to save time and make lots of items at once through force of necessity, but I have to say, it doesn’t always come easy. I am definitely more of a take-my-time, individual, OOAK sort of a maker.
I had a conversation on Saturday, at the craft fair, with Deb of Honey Bee, about exactly this. She said her limit was three; as in, she could make three of the same item and that was her limit. Any more and she just ceased to enjoy it.
Well, I can usually manage more than three, but I do know what she means.
I made this pair of twins in tandem (i.e. both at the same time, rather than one after the other). And they look pretty much the same. That was not a problem.
But one went together like a dream, whereas the other, well…
After several mistakes and frustrating mishaps, I ended up losing it with evil twin a bit. And as a result banged my fist down on the unfinished doll in frustration as it lay face down on the table.
What I had forgotten was that I had already marked her eye positions, as is my usual custom, with pins.
And since they were concealed, but sticking straight upright, I banged both of those pins straight into the side of my little finger. All the way in.
OUCH!
I am sure that evil twin is not actually evil. But I am still not disposed to like her very much after that.
Now she is finished I will wave her merrily on her way.
I have learned my lesson and will be controlling my temper in future.
And I’m sure she’ll be behaving herself from now on, too. ♥
oh dear!
Voodoo Twin! She was sticking pins into *you*! And she looks so innocent, too. It’s just as well she’s going, now she’s tasted your blood…
It does sound like you banged some sense into the “evil one” because they both look adorable now. The holiday/craft show “scurry” is hazardous in the sewing room…
