It is fair to say that yesterday was a day of highs and lows.
I had finished making the day before, all-but sewing up a few owl’s bottoms.
So, the “to do” list was to iron everything, mock up my stall and then pack ready for delivery in the evening to The Place, the venue for the Sherwood Christmas Craft Fair, which takes place today from 10am til 4pm.
Rushing hand sewing is never a good idea. Next time I will do it earlier. My fingers and thumbs will certainly thank me for it, as they got a severe pricking as a result of my haste.
The other job on my list was to print out my stall signs and price labels. And that was where things really started to go wrong.
I have written before of my deeply-held belief that inanimate objects are actually creatures of ill-will toward humankind. But that’s nothing to the ill-will I feel towards my printer.
It seems that every time I have something to print to a deadline, that particular evil machine decides that it’s main function in life is to sabotage my plans.
First it wouldn’t print at all. Then, after about fifteen minutes, it spat out a print – on the wrong side of some expensive photo paper. Yes, I know it’s my fault for loading it the wrong way up, but still.
The next print came out red. As did every subsequent copy. Even after replacing the ink cartridge.
I would have been totally scuppered but for my knight in shining armour, whose office printer was recruited to help out. Although it wouldn’t print the pretty font I wanted to use. So my signs look, well, rubbish.
And the highs?
Well, sitting down with a nice cup of tea and an orange kit-kat at the end of a long day was nice…
And hopefully it will all be worth it and today’s event will be fun.
Although, I just discovered that my stall is half the size I thought it was going to be. 🙁
So finding somewhere for all those owls and tweeties to perch will be today’s challenge! ♥
Those fabrics and things that you have made look absolutely wonderful – I hope that it all went well for you. Also calling in to say how much I love your blog and colours – I love colour and I love pattern – the more the better I think.
Best wishes and wrap up warm in this cold snap!
Jenny
