Coming home from holidays can be a dismal affair.
Admittedly, this time it’s not winter, I’m not leaving my family behind, and I’m very happy to be sleeping in a real bed again.
But still…
I’m finding it hard to get motivated this week.
So a parcel plopping through the letterbox was just the pick-me-up I needed to give a boost to the spirits.
Quite a while back I stumbled across 129 Twig and Vine. I have been a follower of Sue’s posts from a west facing hill in central Vermont ever since.
I love reading about her artistic and artisanal endeavours. Growing stuff, making thoughtful food, and the pursuit of a creative life are just some of the interests we have in common.
We also happen to share a love of vintage fabrics… which is where my parcel comes in.
Because what arrived in the mail was a wonderful gift: a selection of goodies from Sue’s personal fabric cupboard.
And what goodies they are too!
Each one with a beautifully handwritten tag telling it’s own personal stash story…
There’s a fabulous napkin designed by one of my fabric heroes, Vera Neumann.
I have coveted owning a “Vera” for yonks, but they are rare beasts, especially here in England.
I absolutely love it’s faded perfection…
Just look at these lovelies!
For me, the absolute pick of the bunch is this piece of pure gorgeousness on stilts…
I just have to say, thank you Victoire for your lovely gift to Sue, you are obviously very generous and have excellent taste.
As does Sue herself. To whom a simply enormous THANK YOU goes out, for choosing to share her amazing stash with me.
I have been truly welcomed home.
My parcel made me realise the other thing I’d really missed whilst I was away…
No, not fabric…
Being connected to the rest of the world – and all the wonderful folk in it. ♥
Goodness what beautiful fabric!! Very generous… fabulous! Cx
What a lovely gesture. Beautiful fabrics!
Oh yes!! That Vera napkin is fab-u-lous!!! Love the colors. Of course they are all beautiful. How fun to be able to connect with people all over the world that enjoy the same things we do! I. Love. Blogging!
Happy fabric!
Beth
I bet you’ve come across a few Vera goodies in your time Beth, with all the trawling through the goodwill shops you get up to! 🙂
I love the connections with like minded folk too…lush fabrics, and thanks for heads up on Twig And Vine, look forward to following her too.
Oh my goodness! What an utterly fabulous gift! Thatlast pice of fabric is stunning and has your name written all over it – perfect 🙂
I know. I feel extremely fortunate and somewhat undeserving!
What a wonderful lady! I love the notes on the tags.
Having just returned to civilization I just read this beautiful post. So happy you love the goodies. Thanks for inspiring me so often! xox S
All thanks are due to you, Sue. The selection of fabrics is just breathtaking, let alone the fact that you sent them all the way across the pond!
And the little labels are inspired. As one of my facebook commenters noted – and I agreed – you have beautiful handwriting.
